Hurray! Facebook added new emoticons!

I really pleasant surprises when they process what I thought they won't. Seeing something fresh inspires me. Just now I posted a coffe cup symbol ☕ to a friend and Facebook processed it into a lovely ☕ image, which I didn't know they have. This is what inspires me to find out Facebook messaging system's new features and write this article. Not to long in research, I found several fresh amazing new features that widen our possibilities of sharing emoticons in Facebook chat and personal message page. I thought of writing them in this sentence, but I figure it would be more intriguing for you to read along and open all the cards along the way. Symbols ➟ Images

It was a special pleasure for me, as a symbol lover to find that Facebook now recognises symbols. Not all of them, but after they've banned many symbols from being used in Facebook names, it is now the time that they've finally come to love symbols almost as much as I do. Put these characters in chat, or private message and they will become images, just like :) would become a Facebook smiley face:

Try them and see what they've made them to look like. Note, that big and small heart symbols become different emoticons. I like those symbols as plain text, but when they become slick and colorful it just amuzes me.

Facebook's Social Graph ➟ All images are now smileys in chat

You may have seen people writing that you can post a number, or text in[[]] double-brackets and it will appear as an emoticon. At first I thought it's fake, but then I checked. Facebook has made what they called Social Graph. Now everyone and every image has an ID number that links to him/her/it. In addition, some stuff also has a letter writing associated. For example, my page has ID 100000166733602 and word "menshykov" associated with it as you can see in my fb social graph node.

To put my image [[menshykov]] in Facebook chat, or messaging I can just write[[menshykov]], or [[100000166733602]]. BTW ≧◔◡◔≦ add me, I'm Méñshykov. Back to the topic. You can do this too, and you can do this with your name aswell. You can also do this with any image you have. As I've mentioned before, images have IDs, which you can use there aswell. When you open an image, you're directed to a page that looks like http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=ID_THAT_I'M_TALKING_ABOUT&set=blah_blah&other_stuff. Put it in double-brackets and send the minified version of your images to friends. ;) You can also upload custom images and use their IDs. People even make pages for emoticon images, because pages can get a name, and you can remember something like "f9.laugh", unlike "300131220022018" which is totally unreal to remember, which makes these newly crafted smileys and little images usable.

Facebook emoticon art

Just like with symbols and symbol art, there now is a Facebook smiley art. People stack these Facebook Social Graph chat icons and get amazing images. Amazing not in the quality way, but in an art way, in an original wize way. Not something every 10'th person knows about, or every 100'th person would think about. I posted this to a friend, who has 140 IQ and he didn't get how I made it.
